How you can help Texas transit operators

The South West Transit Association, in cooperation with the Texas Transit Association, has set up a website to post updates about Texas transit operators affected by Hurricane Harvey.

Here are some of the ways you can help the agencies and their employees:

  • Donate gift cards for meals and essentials — Walmart, Target, CVS/Walgreens, H-E-B, Chili’s, Chick-fil-a, Whataburger — to TTA.  Staff will deliver the cards to transit agencies to distribute to employees in need.  TTA will not accept cash donations.
  • Organizations that can donate assets or supplies should contact SWTA or TTA.
  • Agencies affected by the storm should get in touch with the Texas Department of Transportation Public Transportation Division.

SWTA will provide updates on transit services and the needs of transit agencies.  Detailed contact information is included in TTA’s hurricane response and the SWTA website.  The Community Transportation Association of America and the American Public Transportation Association are also working with their member agencies affected by Harvey.
