A couple of weeks ago we shared a story about the Capital Bikeshare dock on the grounds of the White House.
The nine-bicycle dock was installed at the request of the Obama administration, and the Trump administration asked the District Department of Transportation to remove it.
The Washington Post reports that the U.S. Secret Service called the bikeshare station a “security concern.”
DDOT removed the station last week. The agency said that bicycles were checked in and out of the White House dock 5,085 times since it was installed in 2010, including 71 trips in July. The dock was not accessible to the public.
The Secret Service did not respond to a request from the Post for a comment about the nature of its concern. Link to full story in The Washington Post.
