Riders can use a credit or debit card to add value to the mobile app or transfer cash funds in person at a CATS transportation center.
“Our goal with the CATS Pass mobile app is to make riding transit more convenient through the use of technology, and this new app allows customers to purchase passes anytime, anywhere with their smart phone,” said CATS CEO John Lewis in a statement. “It also allows CATS to ensure all of its mobility options and technological innovations are accessible to all of our customers.”
Lewis told the Charlotte Observer that customers will eventually be able to use the app to pay for Uber and Lyft rides to make first- and last-mile connections.
