Several real-time transit applications have begun showing multimodal travel information, including details about nearby bikeshare, car-sharing programs, and ride-hailing services.
Now Uber is returning the favor by showing transit information on its mobile app. When Uber passengers are traveling to a transit station — or their destination is a block away from a transit stop — the app will show them upcoming departure times. The transportation network company teamed up with the Transit mobile app for the real-time transit information.
“Our integration with Uber is a perfect match, as we both envision a future in which every journey is shared using a combination of transit options,” said Jake Sion, chief operating officer of Transit, in a statement.
The transit directions are available for nearly 50 U.S. cities on the Android platform.
