RT will test the app for six months. During the pilot period, customers will be able to provide feedback to help shape the final version.
Customers will be able to purchase a singe-ride ticket with their phone and travel for 90 minutes. “Our riders have been requesting a return to the ability to transfer. This application provides transfers without all the paper and fraud issues of a traditional transfer system,” said Mike Mattos, chief of facilities and business support services, in a statement. “The real beauty for customers is that your smartphone is your ticket.”
The app is available in the iPhone App Store and Android Google Play. Mobile payment provider Passport developed the app.
