The Greater Portland Transit District (ME) approved an investment in automatic vehicle location technology at Wednesday’s board meeting, which would put the agency on track for providing real-time customer information. “The real-time passenger information will be transformative for the district, and put us on the cutting edge of transit technology, boost ridership and make the system a more seamless experience,” said city councilor David Marshall. METRO allocated $70,000 for the system and will join South Portland Bus Service and Casco Bay Lines, which have already teamed up to add the technology. Link to full story in The Portland Daily Sun.
