Some changes for The Transit Wire

North Station

You’ll notice a few changes to The Transit Wire starting this week.

First, I’ve started adding images to posts. As a starting point I’m using photos from my growing personal inventory (and, believe me, I love nothing better than taking pictures of trains and buses), and I’ll be browsing through Flickr’s vast collection of images for inspiration. I’m also retiring the rotating photo display at the top of each page. It may come back at some point, but for now I want to shift the focus to the photos illustrating the daily posts.

Second, I launched a mobile version of the site. Only a small percentage of The Transit Wire’s readers access the site on a mobile device, but that may change with a more user-friendly interface. The plugin should recognize your device automatically, so there’s no need to navigate to the mobile site yourself.

No doubt both of these updates fall into the what-took-you-so-long category, but I hope they improve your experience, whether you check out The Transit Wire on a desktop, laptop, tablet, or phone.

What do you think about these changes?

Hi Susan,
I have a bunch of transit and intercity transportation photos on Flickr. Feel free to use what you want. Lots of Portland, Chicago and Denver, as well as photos from a long train ride on the West Coast. I am listed on Flickr as Ridetransitgirl.
Hope all is well.
Stay warm,
Sheryl
