Transport for London to select WiFi supplier in spring

by Susan on January 26, 2012

Transport for London (UK) plans to announce its selection this spring for a vendor to install WiFi in 120 London Underground stations. The plan is to have wireless access available in time for the 2012 Olympic games, and TfL officials say they will meet that goal.  “London Underground is continuing with preparations to install the necessary infrastructure and is on schedule to complete the project as planned,” said Gareth Powell, director of strategy and service development. TfL started the procurement process for WiFi last March but has since abandoned plans to also have a cellular network available in time for the Olympics. Link to full story in The Guardian.
