The Chicago Transit Authority (IL) is finally entering the social space, with new Facebook and Twitter accounts expected to launch today. “We are doing this because the time has come for us and we want to join the conversation,” said spokeswoman Molly Sullivan. “We are eager to respond to people via Twitter, and we hope people will ‘like’ us on Facebook and post on our wall.” Links to Facebook and Twitter will be posted on the CTA website today when the agency goes live; links to CTA accounts on YouTube and Flickr are already available. CTA is the last of the Chicago-area transit properties to embrace social media; the Regional Transportation Authority, Pace Suburban Bus, and Metra all use social networking to some extent. Ironically, CTA laid off three media relations employees last week. Link to full story in Chicago Tribune.
