Dublin’s commuters will be able to use smart cards to pay for their transit trips starting next year. The rollout will start with Luas light rail and Dublin Bus in mid-2011. By the end of the year, the integrated ticketing project will be extended to Irish Rail, private bus operators and Bus Éireann. The project was originally slated for completion in 2005.
