CTA may consider cell-phone fare payment

Paying fares by cell phone is one of the options that the Chicago Transit Authority (IL) wants to consider. “It’s looking at all these types of technologies that are just popping up everywhere and trying to figure out exactly how we incorporate that into our system so our customers have the best,” said CTA president Richard Rodriguez. About a dozen bank and credit card companies have shown interest in a request for proposals for a new CTA fare system. Later this year, interested vendors will propose ways to install the new system at no cost to the CTA.  Link to full story in Chicago Sun-Times.
