The MBTA has released real-time data for 150 of its 185 bus routes so far, and developers have quickly created applications that predict vehicle arrivals. But without live data for the rail system, app developers have to rely on static schedule data. “It’s one of our top requests from individual riders,” said Atticus Gifford of Sparkfish Creative, which developed the MassTransit iPhone application. MBTA general manager Richard Davey said that the train information is coming: “Once we get beyond releasing all the bus data, and making sure there are no issues with that, we’re going to turn our attention to the subway system,” he told the Boston Herald.
