The Southeastern Pennsylvania Transportation Authority is seeking $29 million from the U.S. Department of Transportation’s TIGER II program to implement its long-delayed smart card system. SEPTA has previously sought funds from the federal stimulus program and from proposed tolls on Interstate-80; both efforts were unsuccessful.
