In his blog, U.S. Transportation Secretary Ray LaHood recounts his visit to the Transportation Technology Center (CO). Jointly operated by the Federal Railroad Administration and the Association of American Railroads, the TTC tests freight and passenger rolling stock, vehicle and track components, and safety devices. The tour included a high-speed rail test track, a simulated hazmat drill for emergency responders, and an overview of crash energy management technology. And the best part? After calling the TTC one of DOT’s “most interesting facilities,” LaHood wrote this on his Facebook page: “And they even let me drive a train! How cool is that?” Link to full story in Fast Lane.
