The wait is over for MBTA riders

As The Transit Wire has reported, the Massachusetts Bay Transportation Authority has released real-time data for most of its bus routes, and the applications keep coming. The Boston Globe writes:

The T wasn’t the first transit system to release data to developers, but it has enjoyed unusually fast and productive returns for the benefit of riders — even as those on the nation’s largest system, New York’s, remain in the dark about bus arrivals.

The Globe highlights some of the latest apps, including CatchTheBus, for iPhone and Android, and BostonBusMap for Android. Passengers without smart phones can access voice, web, and text alerts once they download their bus stop ID numbers from NextBus, which provides the arrival predictions for the MBTA.
