The New York Metropolitan Transportation Authority‘s project to add wireless coverage in the system’s 277 underground subway stations is back on track. The MTA approved the project with Transit Wireless in September 2007, but didn’t issue a notice to proceed until last week because of concerns about financing. According to the New York Daily News, cell phone companies will pay Transit Wireless to carry their signals; the company will split these revenues with the MTA.
