Kittens help professor develop crowdsourcing application

The Internet is full of cute kittens, and one kitten-comparison site inspired Princeton University professor Matthew Salganik to develop a crowdsourcing application. All Our Ideas is a free open-source platform that lets groups collect and prioritize ideas. In the words of the website, All Our Ideas is a “suggestion box for the digital age.” “Organizations want to know what they don’t know,” said Salganik. “In the past that’s been difficult. If you ask for suggestions, especially online, you may get thousands of ideas that can take weeks to sort through. On the other hand, if you use a survey with preset questions and answers, you can get lots of data but few new ideas.” Google provided some of the funding for the project.
