A new software application is improving operations on European railroads. Developed by university researchers at a cost of €2.6 million, Arrival software was used to develop a new rail timetable in the Netherlands and to reduce waiting times on Berlin’s U-Bahn. “This first-class European research allows more passengers, more freight and goods on more trains to safely use the same infrastructure while increasing punctuality, passenger satisfaction, and operator profit,” said EU digital agenda commissioner Neelie Kroes. The software is currently under testing in Italy. Link to full story in BBC News.
