Planners at the Washington Metropolitan Area Transit Authority (DC) are using next-bus data as a planning tool. Armed with the GPS data that tracks Metrobus locations, they are identifying trouble spots throughout the metropolitan area and listing the top 10 bus corridors in the District, Maryland, and Virginia that would benefit most from improvements. But because Metro has no jurisdiction over local roads, the agency is partnering with the U.S. Department of Transportation and area transportation agencies to create a 246-mile bus priority corridor system.
