Massport to buy green buses

by Susan on July 16, 2010

Bay State transportation agencies are going green. Just a day after the Massachusetts Bay Transportation Authority announced plans to purchase eco-friendly locomotives, the Massachusetts Port Authority approved the purchase of 50 alternative-fuel buses for ground operations at Logan International Airport. The updated fleet will include 32 diesel-electric hybrid articulated buses and 18 CNG shuttle buses to serve passengers and employees. Massport applied for a Federal Aviation Administration Voluntary Airport Low Emissions AIP grant to cover 75 percent of the $35 million cost for the buses. Link to Massport press release.
