Now commuters on four TriCounty Link (SC) routes can surf while they ride. Executive Director Will Hutto believes that his agency is the first rural bus system in the state to offer WiFi. “The ridership on these routes tends to be those workers that are very IT-savvy and work a good bit with their computers,” he said. “This gives them an opportunity to get some work done to and from work.” TriCounty Link spent about $150 per bus to provide wireless service; Hutto hopes that the wireless service will pay for itself by attracting new riders and/or generating contributions from local businesses. The four routes serve about 100 commuters. Link to full story in The Post and Courier.
