Edmonton (AB) is going virtual. The city is replicating itself — geography, terrain, and major landmarks — on the Second Life platform. Second Life is a three-dimensional virtual application that allows participants to interact with one another via user-created avatars and to build virtual objects with an integrated modeling tool. CIO Chris Moore believes that the platform can foster public involvement and encourage tourism and economic development.
