New website helps Tube passengers claim refunds for delays

A new website, set up by “frustrated tube passengers,” helps commuters claim compensation for delays on Transport for London (UK) trains. Tube passengers are entitled to a refund (in the form of a voucher) if their train is more than 15 minutes late and the problem was within TfL’s control. Connor Kinnear set up mytubewasLATE.com to make it easier for passengers to claim those refunds. “It can be a real hassle to try to claim back fares. I wanted to set something up that made it easier for the commuter,” he said in the London Evening Standard. Once passengers register their regular commute on the website, they will receive an email if their train was canceled or delayed. If the delay was longer than 15 minutes (and the fault was TfL’s), they can click through to the website, which will submit their claim form automatically. Passengers also have the option of submitting the refund form posted on the TfL website or using a similar service from TrainDelays.
