The Central Ohio Transit Authority‘s new hybrid buses — in service for a month — have received praise from customers. “It’s not all herky and jerky,” one rider told The Columbus Dispatch. “It’s definitely a welcome change.” The diesel-electric buses are about 40% more fuel efficient than conventional diesel vehicles and they are equipped with interior and exterior LED lights, which last 35 times longer than halogen or incandescent bulbs. COTA used $2.1 million from the federal Congestion Mitigation and Air Quality Improvement Program to help pay for the six hybrids. Link to full story in The Columbus Dispatch.
