Boston taxi owners sue city over credit card rules

by Susan on July 6, 2010

The Boston Taxi Owners Association is suing the City of Boston over a rule that says taxi drivers cannot operate when the mandatory on-board credit card machine is not working. According to The Boston Globe, the meter and credit card machine are connected by satellite; when the machine goes down, the meter is off-line as well. Also at issue are the fees and conditions associated with the credit card account. Last year the Boston taxi owners successfully sued the city over a rule requiring hybrid cabs by 2015.
