Metro upgrades fare-vending machines

by Susan on July 2, 2010

The Washington Metropolitan Area Transit Authority (DC) upgraded 100 fare-vending machines throughout the Metrorail system. Thanks to the update, about two-thirds of Metro’s 677 vending machines now accept both cash and credit/debit cards for Metrorail passes and farecards. WMATA used $3.5 million in federal stimulus funding to pay for the project. Link to Metro press release.
