Real-time surveillance on track for New York subway

In cooperation with the New York Police Department, the Metropolitan Transportation Authority will connect surveillance cameras at key subway hubs to the city’s fiber-optic cable network. Real-time surveillance images will be available from three subway stations: Grand Central, Times Square, and Penn Station. “They’ll be available to the NYPD wherever they do their surveillance work,” a source told the New York Post. “The clear intent is to have unfettered access to the images and details.” Collectively these stations serve 150 million riders a year.
