The City of San Antonio (TX) plans to launch a downtown bicycle-sharing program, which will serve residents and visitors. “Bike sharing is yet another downtown amenity the city is adding to enhance fitness, improve the quality of life and to encourage commerce and residential living in the urban core,” Mayor Julián Castro says. The program will start with 140 bicycles at 14 locations; each bicycle will be equipped with a RFID-tag. A nonprofit called San Antonio Bike Share will oversee daily operations.
