Passengers on the Dubai Metro (UAE) may soon be able to pay their fare with a cell phone. Chua Thian Yee, CEO of Cassis International, told itp.net that the firm has been in touch with two UAE telecommunications providers about developing a near field communication platform to support transit fare payment. Yee has held conversations with representatives from Du and Etisalat and believes that the former may be ready to move forward. “Du is quite an advanced telco and they have a strategic approach that is shaped by customers,” Yee said. “They are always looking for the next step to stay ahead, so they look for new technology to attract new customers.” Link to full story in ITP.net.
