Washington Metro posts online statistics

The Washington Metropolitan Area Transit Authority (DC) is inviting the public to monitor its performance through Vital Signs, a new monthly report that tracks key indicators. The related Metro Scorecard will post selected statistics from the Vital Signs reports, including safety, security, on-time performance, expenses, and customer satisfaction. “This is a valuable tool that provides discipline for achieving goals by clearly defining and measuring success and failure in a way that is understood both inside the organization and by the public,” said board member Christopher Zimmerman in a statement. Metro joins agencies like Hampton Roads Transit (VA) and the Virginia Department of Transportation, both of which have online dashboards.
