A fifth proposal has entered the fight for the Nevada-to-California high-speed rail market. Current options are Desert Xpress (conventional high-speed rail), a magnetic levitation alternative, and two competing excursion trains. New kid on the block is Desert Lightning, which would provide high-speed connections between Las Vegas (NV), Los Angeles (CA) and Phoenix (AZ). The route’s proponents are seeking $35 million in federal funds for a feasibility study. Link to full story in Las Vegas Sun.
