Long Island Rail-Road starts construction on green train wash facility

MTA Long Island Rail-Road (NY) broke ground on a train wash facility in the Village of Babylon. The $25.5 million facility, financed with federal stimulus funds, incorporates numerous “green” features, including solar panels that are estimated to save $6,700 a year on energy costs.
