Metra takes wait-and-see attitude on WiFi

Chicago-area commuter rail operator Metra (IL) has said no to WiFi for now, citing cost constraints. “Mass transit in Chicago depends primarily on the regional sales tax,” said spokesman Michael Gillis.  “In the souring economy, those receipts are down dramatically.”  Gillis said Metra will keep a close eye on the New York Metropolitan Transportation Authority, which is looking into ways to provide wireless connections at no cost to the agency.
