Five US cities will receive free tech support to develop applications that will improve transparency, efficiency, and citizen participation. Code for America selected Boston (MA), Philadelphia (PA), Washington (DC), Seattle (WA), and Boulder (CO). In a blog post, CFA founder and executive director Jennifer Pahlka wrote:
Each of these applicants demonstrated not only cutting-edge thinking and a willingness to invest in long-term change, but also a fantastic idea for a web app that will make their city (and any other city who wants to use it) more efficient, transparent and participatory.
Code for America connects city officials with Web 2.0 talent; the organization invited cities to apply for tech support earlier this year.
