The race to connect Las Vegas (NV) with Southern California is heating up again. First came the battle between a magnetic levitation proposal and a conventional high-speed rail option. Now two groups are competing to build a slower passenger rail link between Las Vegas and Los Angeles. Known as the X Train and the Z-Train, both proposals would use existing track to make the five-hour-plus trip.
