Future of Seattle trolleybuses unknown

King County (WA) officials are exploring options for upgrading Metro Transit‘s aging fleet of trolleybuses — switch to new-generation models or replace the fleet with electric-diesel hybrid buses.  Besides being quiet and non-polluting, the electric trolleybuses are better suited for handling Seattle’s hills. Buses, on the other hand, have the flexibility to travel off-route — a key advantage during winter travel — and the vehicles cost less. To help sort out these issues, the county council has ordered a technical study. Link to full story in The Seattle Times.
