Microsoft launched a website to aggregate social media platforms from state and local governments. Gov2Social lets users search for Facebook, Twitter, YouTube, and other pages for elected officials, state government agencies, cities, towns and counties. Microsoft initially populated the site with about 500 listings but is counting on users to add more links. The site is not perfect — a quick review showed that the Facebook site listed for the City of Boston was official, but the Twitter account was not. Microsoft plans to podcasts, analytics, case studies, and best practices to the site. Link to full story in Government Technology.
