Following in the footsteps of the Massachusetts Department of Transportation, among others, the New York Metropolitan Transportation Authority is hosting a so-called Unconference for application developers on May 5. MTA staff plans to release new datasets in association with the event. The MTA has received more than 1,100 requests, mostly for route and schedule info, since the agency began releasing data in January. AM New York anticipates big things from the flood of data: “Soon, straphangers can expect a bonanza of new transit apps offering plenty of gee-whiz services, adding to an already rich collection that is changing the way New Yorkers commute.” Link to full story in am New York.
