Back on Los Angeles County Metropolitan Transportation Authority (CA) buses, Transit TV uses GPS to deliver geographically triggered advertising for small businesses along the route. As the bus drives by a local business, an advertisement is displayed on the screen for 30 seconds. Advertisers have the option to create a special email address that riders can use to get electronic coupons. “Transit TV is a win-win for Metro and its patrons,” said Warren Morse, LA Metro’s deputy executive officer of communications, in a press release. “Not only does it enhance the bus riding experience for our patrons, it costs the agency nothing to operate and actually generates advertising revenue.” Advertising rates are based on bus ridership.
