A world of apps: Novelties no longer

USA Today takes a look at the growing appeal of smart phone applications as they continue their “inexorable march from cellphone novelties to virtual personal assistants.” Some experts say the appeal is convenience and price — many apps are available for 99 cents and can be downloaded  with a single click. Others link the appeal to power and freedom; USA Today compares the phenomenon to the same freedom people experienced “when phones first became cordless, then wireless.”  And now, with devices like Apple’s iPad about to hit the market, apps may give people the same freedom to abandon their computers.  Link to full story in USA Today.
