Paducah Area Transit System, along with three other rural travel providers, opened the doors on the Purchase Area Regional Transit Travel Management Coordination Center, which uses ITS technology to manage and coordinate services in far western Kentucky. Vehicles from four providers — Paducah Area Transit System, Easter Seals West Kentucky, Fulton County Transit Authority and Murray Calloway Transit Authority — are tied together with mobile data terminals, automatic vehicle location, and centralized computer-assisted dispatching. Passengers will be able to reserve and manage their transportation online or by calling a single telephone number. The center received funding from the U.S. Department of Transportation’s Mobility Services for All Americans initiative.
