Another delay for SEPTA smart cards?

The Southeastern Pennsylvania Transportation Authority‘s plans to introduce smart cards may be delayed again unless new funding becomes available.  The state is seeking federal approval to add tolls to Interstate-80, which is expected to free up $110 million per year for transit projects. “We can’t move forward without it,” said general manager Joseph Casey. “That’s no way to run a railroad.” This funding roadblock is the latest glitch in a procurement process that has been marked by delays.
