Transport for London unveils hydrogen fuel cell

Transport for London (UK) announced plans to cut carbon emissions by 40% and save £90,000 per year in energy costs thanks to a retrofitted green power plant. The facility, which includes the UK’s largest hydrogen cell, is expected to provide all the plant’s off-peak power requirements and 25% of its peak-period needs. “Zero-polluting hydrogen fuel has the potential to radically transform the way we power our city to create a more pleasant environment,” said Kit Malthouse, deputy mayor of London and chairman of the London Hydrogen Partnership. “This isn’t a fuel of the future but is available right now.” TfL also plans to join the 10:10 energy efficiency campaign.
