Maglev project makes commitment to Nevada trades council

February 22, 2010

Proponents for the magnetic levitation train that would link Las Vegas (NV) and Anaheim (CA) have signed a letter of commitment with the Southern Nevada Building and Construction Trades Council.  The letter outlines the project team’s commitment to use union workers to build the maglev system and calls upon the labor council to join project officials in seeking $45 million in federal funds.  “There is no question this is the train that Nevadans overwhelmingly support, this is the technology for the twenty-first century,” said Neil Cummings of the American Magline Group in a press release. “Our remaining hurdles are in Washington where we need our leaders to realize that Nevadans and Californians alike have already made their clear choice.” Link to full story in Mass Transit.
