People are not interested in keeping personal financial information on their cell phones, according to a professor at Kansas State University. Esther Swilley, assistant professor of marketing, asked students and the general public whether they wanted wallet phones — cell phones with identification, banking accounts, and other sensitive information — and the answer was no. “It was the risk that was involved, and people didn’t want to take the risk,” she said. Survey respondents were more comfortable with keeping prepaid items like movie and airline tickets on their phones. “If somebody stole the phone, you’d be mad, but your identification would be intact,” Swilley added.
