The president and CEO of the Las Vegas Monorail (NV) discussed his long-range plans to extend the project to McCarran International Airport. If the monorail receives bankruptcy protection, Curtis Myles said the project might apply for Federal Transit Administration funds and pursue a partnership with Chinese investors and government agencies. “The idea is that there would be a seamless system connecting the existing monorail with the airport,” Myles said. “The Chinese are looking to franchise their rail system expertise around the world.” Chinese investors may invest in a proposed maglev train between Las Vegas and southern California.
