The Washington Metropolitan Area Transit Authority (DC) sends out frequent service updates via email, but the press releases provide only a link to the full announcement. People who want the full text have to click through to Metro’s website for more information. When too many people want the information at the same time — like during last week’s snow disruptions — the agency’s servers are overwhelmed. As Greater Greater Washington observed, providing details directly in the emails would make it easier for people to access the information they need while reducing the burden on WMATA’s servers.
