TransitGenie is a new trip planning application for Chicago-based iPhone users. Developed by University of Illinois at Chicago computer scientist Jakob Eriksson, the free app provides walking and transit directions. “It’s personalized. It lives in your pocket,” Eriksson said. “I think this would be great for newcomers or tourists.” The application uses real-time Chicago Transit Authority bus-tracking data, and includes schedule information for CTA and Metra commuter rail.
