OpenDOT: New federal website to encourage citizen involvement

by Susan on February 12, 2010

As part of the new federal emphasis on transparency, the US Department of Transportation launched OpenDOT to encourage citizen participation.  Users are encouraged to submit ideas on ways to improve USDOT and vote on their favorites. Secretary Ray LaHood blogged about the project:

Now, I’m excited about this tool because it allows the public to shape our approach. You can tell us what kind of data you want to see published. You can propose what kind of applications developers outside DOT should create with our data. You can show us opportunities for public participation in DOT’s mission.

OpenDOT will be open for comments through March 19.
