Portland (OR) residents can already use their iPhones to track the buis. Now they can use their phones to report street-level problems — from potholes to broken streetlights. City of Portland Citizen Reports is a free iPhone app that lets users snap a picture and send the information to City Hall. The app is still in testing, but early reports are positive. “As soon as I downloaded it, I sent in a report about a drain that always backs up,” one resident told The Oregonian. “I’m watching them work on it right now.” Similar applications are available in Boston (MA), Pittsburgh (PA), San Jose (CA), and New York City.
